Incredibly touching adaptation of a graphic novel series

Watched this series with my 10 and 12 year olds. We loved the story, the characters, and the LGBTQIA+ and other intersectional representation. I probably cried during every episode. 😄🤧 The kids in the series have vulnerable, honest conversations with their peers (and adults); that was so much nicer than so many of the toxic relationship/friendship portrayals I saw in media when I was a kid. Our 12 year old loves the graphic novel series as well! One trigger warning: There is an f slur uttered by an unkind student. There are also a couple of nonconsensual kisses. These choices have varying consequences and conversations that precipitate from them.

Learning from my kids, great examples

I loved watching this with my tween daughter. So much to talk about. The main characters are so thoughtful and expressive about their feeling but in a realistic way. I think it’s a really good example of how to treat others and apologize when you mess up, which we all do. That is how we learn. And I leaned a lot coming form an older generation that treated everything outside of a heterosexual relationship as abnormal. Opened my mind and my heart.

I wish I got to watch shows like this growing up!

Wholesome queer content for people of all ages to enjoy and potentially even learn some lessons in mutual respect. Be warned that the source material does get a little darker/more serious including themes regarding mental health (and so future seasons will likely include this).

NEW FAVORITE SHOW

This show was amazing and addicting! Nothing inappropriate happened in the show except for some bad words and kissing. This show is definitely appropriate for teens and preteens

The best TV series I've seen, ever!

This is hands down one of the best TV series I've seen. It is well acted, well thought out, the plot line never leaves, and it is so convencing that I began to feel empathy with the characters. As an LGBTQ series, it is phenominal. Hits the mark in every way, without forcing the viewer, or assuming we are unaware of reality. It protrays young love in such a tender fashion, without vulgar language or sexual scenes, that I was actually crying at times at how sweet it is. I wished every teen had a tender, loving, and gentle relationship like the two main character have. It is innocent in it's development of each characters understanding about themselves. It doesn't shy from the truth of bullies, but it also shows how love triumphs over it. I give this TV series the highest praise and can hardly wait for season two. My grandchildren (ages 13-17) were mesmorized by this series. Well done.

A super sweet story and series. Watch Season 1 and then go back and read all the books. Realistic amount of drama - not overdone. Just the right amount of fear, joy and excitement of first love without the (often) over sexualization. Every character shines, but Charlie and Nick sparkle together! Such a gem. An 11 out of 10!!

At last!

Thrilled to have such a warm and sweet show that my middle schooler can watch that reflects the real and diverse population of their generation. We both adored Heartstopper.
