What's the Story?
In YOUNG LOVE, Angela Young (Issa Rae) is in remission after a battle with cancer, and is settling in back home. She's faced with the grim reality that life carried on while she was in the hospital and struggles to find her place in her family and her career. Stephen Love (Scott "Kid Cudi" Mescudi), an aspiring music producer, had been holding down the fort with their imaginative daughter Zuri (Brooke Monroe Conaway) while Angela recovered. With everyone back home, Stephen sees this as the chance to fully dive into his career. But add an overprotective Grandma and a critical Grandpa, and old habits are hard to shake. How will this family juggle community, careers, parenthood, and so much more while keeping love afloat?
Is It Any Good?
This charming and sweet series mixes witty humor and timely conversations with playfulness and love. Rae and Mescudi play a great duo, and the family dynamics can be brash yet sensitive. Young Love isn't afraid to present complex topics that will open up room for conversation between parents and their kids. With occasional swearing and sexual innuendo, this series is most suitable for older tweens and teens.
