What's the Story?
WOLFBOY AND THE EVERYTHING FATCORY is an animated series about a boy with a wild sense of imagination who doesn't quite fit in with his peers. William Wolfe, aka "Wolfboy" (voiced by Kassian Shae Akhtar), is sent to boarding school in an attempt to help him make friends. But William, who prefers to wear a wolf mask, is immediately teased by his new classmates. He escapes into the forest near the school and sees two creatures enter a magical portal. Wolfboy follows and meets two sprytes, Sprout (Archie Yates) and Xandra (Lilly Williams). He's stumbled into the Everything Factory, a secret underground world that creates everything for the human world up above- from clouds to memories. Wolfboy's found the place where his daydreams have become reality, but the only trouble is that humans are not supposed to know about the Everything Factory, let alone live there. Professor Luxcraft (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) decides to let Wolfboy stay, because "there's something about him" that he can't quite put his finger on. Will Wolfboy be able to stay in the magical world where he feels like he belongs, or will he be forced to go back to a world that doesn't understand him?
Is It Any Good?
This lovely, empathetic series is a true delight. Kids will fall in love with the Wolfboy character and the fantasy world that powers life as we humans know it. Wolfboy is an example of a somewhat rare character in kids' TV -- he's complex, is an extremely emotionally intelligent boy, and has a wild creativity streak that hasn't gotten squashed. Kids who feel different from their peers (i.e. all kids at one point or another) will connect deeply with him. The show also successfully sneaks in teaching social-emotional skills in a way that will resonate with kids, which is commendable for this tween demographic. The whole visual world of the Everything Factory is superb: from the spryte creatures with their wonderfully quirky designs to the richly textured and colored scenery. Kids will want to jump in and live there, and let Wolfboy inspire their own imaginations to run wild.

Families can talk about how Wolfboy's mom says, "it's beautiful oddballs like you who make a difference in the world." Do you think that's true? Why or why not?
