What’s It About?
Every week within its seasons, the free podcast Pinkalicious & Peterrific offers upbeat background music, engaging sound effects, and the enthusiastic voices of the fictional sister-brother duo made famous by Pinkalicious book and the Pinkalicious & Peterrific TV show from PBS Kids. The characters talk about positive messages and break into song a few times in each episode, with barely any negative content and lots of talk about happy pink thoughts. For the last few minutes of most episodes, and throughout some listener question episodes, children from around the world ask questions of fictional Pinkalicious or real author of the Pinkalicious books Victoria Kann. Pinkalicious and other announcers mention sponsors and production credits at the beginning and end of each episode.
Is It Any Good?
If your kid listener is crazy about fairies, cupcakes, singing, and pink everything all the time, this may be the podcast for you. Pinkalicious & Peterrific has energy and enthusiasm to spare. It's full of upbeat songs, bubbly brother-sister dialogue, and constant encouragement to be creative and sing your way to gratitude, happiness, and joy. The podcast occasionally touches on and models how kids can deal with minor setbacks, like sickness, boredom, or rainy days, but it usually keeps things so bubbly and bright that it misses opportunities to normalize and help kids learn how to cope with more complex emotions or situations. It is refreshing to hear kids' voices from around the world asking questions of author Victoria Kann at the ends of episodes, but the bulk of the listening is one-dimensional and, in a word, "pink-a-tastic."
