I laughed, great series!

I love the Judy Moody series, even if I'm almost 10. It has a lot of funny parts about saving the world. I loved this book, could read it twice, 5 stars, 7+!

What's the Story?

In JUDY MOODY SAVES THE WORLD, Judy becomes a conservationist. Inspired by what her third grade teacher, Mr. Todd, teaches the class about endangered species and resources, Judy first tries to relieve her family of anything that might be related to the rain forest. She hides her dad's coffee and wants their household to reuse all of their garbage. Then she releases her brother's pet toad into the wild, and -- horrified to learn that the wood comes from the rain forest -- she hides all of her classmates' pencils. Eventually, with her teacher's help, she comes up with an activity that her whole class can join: to collect recyclables and exchange them for money to plant 100 trees in the rain forest.

This volume in the Judy Moody series is particularly successful as it presents important environmental issues in an age-appropriate way for early chapter book readers and middle graders. Judy's misguided initial attempts at conservation, along with Peter H. Reynolds' illustrations, keep young readers laughing, but meanwhile they also learn how kids as well as grown-ups can help protect endangered species and save natural resources. Judy Moody Saves the World is a funny story that may inspire children to be better caretakers of the natural world.
