Fingernails

Central to the film is a relationship between a White woman, Anna, played by British actor Jessie Buckley and a man called Amir, played by British-Asian actor Riz Ahmed. Amir's ethnicity is not a narrative point, nor is it brought up -- it's just presented as matter of fact. Anna is given great agency, taking control of her life and the decisions that will impact it.

Characters' fingernails are removed for scientific testing, including one scene where a character takes multiple of their own nails off, in one sitting. The nail, with blood surrounding it, is shown after it has come off the finger. Characters who go through this process are seen in pain -- they are provided with objects to put in their mouths to bite down on.

Characters' relationships are discussed and anaylzed at length, as are their sex lives and intimate moments. Two characters have sex, though it's not a particularly graphic sequence, with no real nudity. Characters kiss and, in one scene, multiple people are seen in their underwear. Characters engage in infidelity.

Strong language throughout including multiple uses of "f--k."

Characters are seen drinking at social events, such as house and work parties.
