Our partners

Common Sense Media has collaborated with researchers at Project Zero, a more than 50-year-old research center at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, since first developing the Common Sense Digital Literacy and Citizenship Curriculum in 2007. In 2017, we renewed our relationship with Project Zero with an expanded focus on connecting research and practice for the breadth of digital citizenship topics relevant to today's young people and educators, including digital well-being, morality and ethics, social relationships, and civic life. The Project Zero team's current initiative, called Educating with Digital Dilemmas (EDD), is co-led by Carrie James and Emily Weinstein, with Howard Gardner serving as senior advisor.

James and Weinstein are conducting systematic research with youth, educators, and parents focusing on dilemmas that surface in today's connected world. They are also developing tools for classroom practice and parent-child conversations. As they conduct their research, they are collaborating with Common Sense Education. Key insights from the research directly inform the key topics and approaches in the updated (and renamed) Digital Citizenship Curriculum.
