What's the Story?
DAILY DOSE OF SUNSHINE is a comedy series about a nurse who goes above and beyond for her patients in a psychiatric ward. Third-year nurse Jung Da-eun (Park Bo-young) transferred from internal medicine to the psychiatry department at Myongshin University Hospital to work under the supervision of Chief Nurse Song Hyo-shin (Lee Jung-eun). She has a lot to learn, but has the support of best friend Song Yoo-chan (Jang Dong-yoon) and fellow nurse and former college classmate Hong Jeong-ran (Park ji-yeon). She's even caught the interest of Dr. Dong Go-geun (Yeon Woo-jin), a proctologist with a big (and rather strange) personality. It's a challenging job that requires a lot of energy, but Jung makes the extra effort to look for ways to bring some happiness into her patients' lives during what are often their darkest moments.
Is It Any Good?
The heartfelt Korean dramtic comedy is an adaptation of the Kakao webtoon that was loosely based on the real-life experiences of its creator, former nurse Lee Ra-ha. It highlights some of the highs and lows of being a psychiatric caregiver by combining difficult, mature, and sometimes heartbreaking patient stories with quirky and often humorous moments. The result is a series that manages to be entertaining while remaining kind when it comes to portraying people who are struggling with mental illnesses, and at times, their loved ones. If you're looking for a sensitive adult series to invest in, Daily Dose of Sunshine is worth the watch.
