What's the Story?
Colin from Accounts begins with a chance encounter between Ashley (Harriet Dyer) and Gordon (Patrick Brammall). After a brief flirtation, Gordon accidentally hits a dog with his care. When the two decide to care for the injured animal together, they form a unique friendship that could lead to romance.
Is It Any Good?
More romantic comedies should weave the meet cute into the fabric of the show. Colin from Accounts takes its name from the dog that brings its central couple together and keeps them together. Taking care of another living thing gives the leads a plausible reason to let their guard down as they get to know one another. Similarly, the series doesn't feel the need to push too hard to be much more than a straightforward romantic comedy, allowing its dark humor and physical comedy to come out naturally. It's a charmer.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the dog. Why is the dog so important to this series? How does it bring Ashley and Gordon together? Did they make the right choice to care for it? Why or why not?
What makes Ashley and Gordon's relationship work or not work? What are some positive traits each of them show the other?
