A great action movie with comedy interspersed. A few bad words, but the kittens (flerkens) make up for it.

Watch Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and WandaVision on Disney+. Then watch this on Disney+ as well!

You will be extremely confused for a while, if you haven't watched Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel series, and WandaVision series. My wife had only seen Captain Marvel and she said she was lost for the first 1/3 of the movie. I had watched all three, though not recently, and I had a hard time connecting the dots for a little while. The character developed completely relied on watching those other three movies/series. An example of a film where Disney's push for super diversification has left me super not impressed. There were some fun spots, but I found myself not fully engaged in the storyline. There was a point in the story where Captain Marvel said that she was ashamed of her actions that led to the predicament and it was that reason why she hadn't returned to earth. She wanted to make up for what she did. However, everything that she had done in the following years had nothing to do with making up for what she did (I left this vague to not give away the plot). This absence caused negative feelings among the protagonists, but the root of the absence appears false. Will I watch this film again? Yes, only on Disney+, where I should have watched it in the first place.

Marvel Mojo is Back

Marvel mojo is alive and well. I was thrilled to see the expansion into female-led superhero movies. The action was great, and the story moved at a solid clip. Kamala Khan was a pure delight. Captain Marvel, aka Carol Danvers, showed her range. Captain Rambeau showed her smarts and rose to the occasion. There is one mid-credit scene. Very nostalgic. It's nice to be somewhere everybody knows your name. *Wink*

It’s… OK

Meh… it’s okay, but I never liked the first Captain Marvel movie. Ms Marvel is a good show, but I didn’t really like the character as much in this movie. Think Prince character was kind of meh too. It’s just meh overall. Marvel should take some time to pause and work on a better script. I did think Sam Jackson did a good job though. I also appreciate Iman Vellani, because I know she’s young, but she did a good job anyway.

Not Marvel's best effort

One part is very funny. The rest is kind of confusing both visually and story-wise, and had more moral complexity than I wanted in a Marvel movie. I personally don't go to Marvel movies to think through ethical nuances, nor do I think my kids. Captain and Monica were very entertaining to watch, as were Ms. Marvel's family. They try to make Ms. Marvel funny but my kids found her annoying and were tepid about the movie mostly because of her. The basic plot is the villain is annihilating other worlds to save her own planet and the reason it needs saving was the hubris of Captain Marvel who created a problem and then apparently moved on to something else. Which is exactly what she then does to the second planet the villian struck even though everyone should still be alive but in desperate need and now waiting to die slow deaths. My age rating is based on that and a tactical decision is made "to save who we can save" and the rest are being shown left to die/dying. While a reality of war or emergencies, it seems like kind of an intense dilemma to expect kids or adults to ponder when they came to be entertained.

The Marvels is a great movie for preteen girls.

We had our 4th grade daughter with 5 of her friends packed in our van. Great roll model film with mild violence, one mild curse word, no sex, etc. Definitely held their interest.

Fun Movie, Emotional, and Exciting

Obviously there’s lots of fighting. There are curse words that pop up intermittently, but not over the top with them. There are emotional scenes dealing with loss and family. Lots of fun and even an unexpected musical number.

A few scary scenes

A few scary scenes. Depending on how your kid handles those types of things it should be OK.

Marvel at its best

I really liked this film. It was really funny. However, there is one disturbing scene in which The Marvels leave Skrulls too die
