Boring and Dark

I liked the first two movies in the modern series, but I found this one really boring. The whole movie is dark in both appearance and theme. The suspense was more of jump-scare type elements than through the story. By the end, I didn't really care who was guilty; I just wanted the movie over. When I left I told my wife, "There was not one thing about that movie that I really enjoyed." Semi- spoiler alert - Because you know this is a Hercule Poirot movie, you know that he will uncover how the "spiritual/ghost/haunting" things are really being done, but there is still a bunch of those elements that have a scary/dark/spiritual theme. Just note that if you have young or sensitive kids.

A little creepy but still very Christie

I have an IMMENSE soft spot for Branagh and Agatha Christie adaptations. I loved Murder on the Orient Express and enjoyed Death on the Nile immensely. This outing of Poirot is tonally different from the others. It is a bit creepier and has the performers ratchet up the performances a bit, but I was still enthralled, not sure who had dunit and was well invested in the story, tone and cinematography. I hope they continue making them because I will continue to show up to be misled and taken on a Christie ride.

Wasted 7 bucks on this

My sister and I are both in our 20s and had to walk out 40 minutes into the movie. There was no plot progression by the point and the seance got WEIRD. Her face contorted etc. We wouldn’t recommend this movie to anyone who doesn’t practice spiritualism or doesn’t enjoy supernatural elements. We went in thinking it would be an innocent murder mystery, which we usually love. This was extremely disappointing to us because we love Agatha Christie’s books.

Good move, but not for preteens and teens sensitive to scary movies/shows

Older kid/preteen and up are fine, some definitely scary/jumpy type of elements and it is a murder mystery. In my case both my preteen and teenager were fine watching it with me, but if your kid is sensitive to that scary/jumpy scenes and sometimes scary images don’t take them. All in all I thought it was good for Halloween and typical of these movies keeps you guessing about the who done it till the end.

The only thing haunting about this was how boring it was!

This was one of the most disappointing movie of the year by far . . . It had so much potential, but it was such a let down. The biggest problem I had with this movie that it felt like facts and not a story. It felt like they were throwing facts after facts after facts about what the person was involved with the killings. The first 20 minutes and the last 10 minutes didn’t feel like I was being the throated down with boring facts about the mystery. But 90% of the movie felt like we were going one person after another after another with just asking the usual questions they ask in these types of Hercule mystery movies. But unlike Death on the Nile (by far, so much more intriguing) and even Murder on the Orient Express, this felt like a no breather to expand more on the storyline or even the tone/direction but just go from person to person to question them — it was boring, lame, and just felt like a waste of time. One thing I will give this movie is this — they had at least the guts to change the tone and the direction of the whole Hercule mystery movies. I enjoyed the haunted, eerie atmosphere but it also didn’t help that they didn’t explore it even more. This movie felt like a waste for so much potential that was lost. One of my most anticipated movie of this month just turns out to be definitely one of the most disappointing movies of this year I’ve seen.

Seriously, I think it's quite sophisticated for children/ it's sort of about getting away from children. Thanks.

ROMA REPRESENTATION!!

Good Movie. I just wanted to talk about Ali Kahn, in the movie and I’m pretty sure he played a Romani character. I love that the character was played by an actor of Indian descent like Romani people. And the struggles a lot of Romani people have to endure, such as the immigration was touched on. I just am glad that there might finally start to be rep. And the fact that it’s set in Italy validates that Roma exist there! And the anti Roma racism growing there might actually be talked about!
